               1960's London: 16-year old Jenny (Carey Mulligan) is pretty, naturally talented and hard working and her father is intent on grooming her for Oxford. But her life is turned upside down when she is introduced to the glamorous and sophisticated world of David (Peter Sarsgaard), a man more than twice her age. Romance soon blossoms but, as Jenny learns more about David, she begins to question whether this new exciting life really is better than the one she is leaving behind.
